How long does a Uniface migration take?

Timeline depends on your application’s size and complexity, so we don’t quote an overall duration upfront. What we do commit to is the Analysis & Planning phase, which typically takes about a week and gives you a precise, scoped timeline and cost for the rest of the engagement before you commit further. Because TFT delivers module by module, working software on your chosen stack is available earlier than a big-bang cutover would allow.

How is the engagement priced?

Every engagement is scoped individually. The Analysis & Planning phase is quoted upfront, so you have a clear, defined cost before deciding on anything further. Once that phase is complete, you receive a customized pricing proposal for Code Migration and Deployment based on your application’s actual scope. What happens to existing Uniface business logic?

TFT’s in-house Uniface engineers read and document the existing business logic as the first step of every engagement. Business rules, workflows, and data logic are mapped explicitly before redevelopment begins. Each module is built against this map. The functional equivalence testing phase then verifies that the new application reproduces the behaviour of the original, including rules that were never formally documented.

Which technology stack does TFT recommend?

TFT does not have a default recommendation. Stack selection is based on analysis of your Uniface application, your team’s existing skills, your infrastructure environment, and your long-term roadmap. Back-end options are .NET, Java, or Python. Front-end options are React or Angular. The formal recommendation is a deliverable from the Analysis and Planning phase. The final decision is always yours.

How does TFT handle testing after redevelopment?

In the Testing phase, you validate each redeveloped module in your own environment, running it against the existing Uniface system to confirm functional equivalence. TFT resolves discrepancies and issues identified during testing. No module moves to the next development cycle without a sign-off. The Deployment & Hypercare phase then supports production deployment across all completed modules.

What support do we get after go-live?

Every deployment includes a Hypercare period (typically 3 to 6 months) during which TFT resolves any issues that surface in production at no additional cost. Beyond Hypercare, ongoing application maintenance and support plans are available, so you have a long-term partner for stability, performance, and continued evolution of the application, not just a one-time handover.
